What the FMM003 lights mean

The FMM003 has two small lights: a navigation light, which tells you about GPS, and a status light, which tells you about the tracker and its mobile connection. They’re the quickest way to check a tracker in the vehicle.

The tables below are from Teltonika’s FMM003 LED status page.

Behaviour Meaning
Permanently switched on GNSS signal is not received
Blinking every second Normal mode, GNSS is working
Off GNSS is turned off because: Device is not working or Device is in sleep mode
Blinking fast constantly Device firmware is being flashed

GNSS is the general term for satellite positioning, including GPS.

Behaviour Meaning
Blinking every second Normal mode
Blinking every two seconds Sleep mode
Blinking fast for a short time Modem activity
Off Device is not working or Device is in boot mode

Navigation light on solid. The tracker can’t see the satellites. Move the vehicle out into the open, away from sheds, carports, basements and tall buildings, and give it a few minutes. If it stays solid outdoors for a long time, contact us.

Navigation light off, status light blinking every two seconds. The tracker is asleep. That’s normal when the vehicle has been parked for a while. Start the engine or drive off and it should wake up.

Navigation light blinking fast. The tracker’s firmware is being updated. We manage firmware updates remotely. Leave it plugged in and don’t unplug it until the fast blinking stops.

Status light blinking fast for a short time. The tracker is talking to the mobile network — for example, sending its records. Nothing to do.

Both lights off. The tracker has no power or isn’t working. Check that:

  1. the extension cable is pushed fully into the OBD-II port, and the tracker fully into the cable;
  2. the vehicle battery isn’t flat.

Then start the engine and watch the lights for a minute. If they stay off, work through the tracker offline checklist.

The tracker is usually tied up under the dash, so you may need a torch and a quick look upside down. If you can’t see the lights at all, consider re-tying it where they can be seen, as long as it stays clear of the driver’s feet.
