Integrations and API
For most customers, the dashboard does everything they need. Larger fleets often want their tracking data to flow into the other systems they run — job management, payroll, or their own reporting. The We Track IT platform can connect to other systems in three ways.
Data forwarding
Section titled “Data forwarding”The platform can forward tracking data to third-party platforms. As your trackers report in, the data is passed on to another system as well as to the dashboard.
This suits you if:
- you already use another telematics, safety or fleet system and want everything in one place;
- a customer or head contractor asks for live data from vehicles on their job;
- you’re moving between systems and want both running for a while.
Report webhooks
Section titled “Report webhooks”A webhook sends data to a web address you choose. With report webhooks, the platform can deliver report data straight into your own system, rather than someone downloading a report and re-typing it.
This suits you if you want reports such as trip listings or summaries to land automatically in another system. See reports for what the platform reports on.
REST API
Section titled “REST API”The platform has a REST API, so your developers can connect your systems to it directly. An API is a way for one piece of software to request data from another.
This suits you if you have your own developers, or a software provider, who want to build something specific — for example a customer portal or a custom dashboard.
What people connect
Section titled “What people connect”Some common examples:
- Job management — match jobs to the vehicle that attended, with arrival and departure times.
- Payroll and timesheets — use trip times to check hours.
- Maintenance — use real kilometres and working hours (engine hours) to schedule servicing. See fuel and odometer.
- Business reporting — bring fleet data into the reporting tools you already use.
Whether a particular system can be connected depends on that system. We’ll tell you what’s possible before you commit.
Getting started
Section titled “Getting started”- Contact us and tell us what you want to connect and why.
- We’ll talk through the options — forwarding, webhooks or the API — and what you need on your side.
- We set it up with you and check the data is coming through properly.
Look after your data
Section titled “Look after your data”Tracking data can show where your drivers are. Before you send it to another system, check who will be able to see it there, and that it fits with what you’ve told your staff. See tracking your staff and our privacy policy.
